AspireAssist for Non-Surgical Weight Loss

Update: The AspireAssist procedure is no longer offered by Batash Endoscopic Weight Loss Center. Aspire Bariatrics, the manufacturer of AspireAssist which was approved by the FDA in the summer of 2016, ceased all operations in April of 2022 and withdrew the product from the market due to the financial impact of Covid 19.

Before its removal from the market, we chose to discontinue offering AspireAssist to our patients in favor of other non-surgical options that better prepare them to lead healthier lifestyles.

  • Non-surgical Suture Sculpt ESG (endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty) is minimally-invasive and is done as an outpatient procedure. It requires no incisions and offers a quick recovery with none of the risks or complications associated with surgery.
  • The Orbera gastric balloon is a comprehensive 12-month program that uses a saline-filled silicone medical balloon to occupy the patient's stomach for the first six months. This balloon takes up about ⅔ of the stomach’s capacity.

Both of these procedures assist patients with two issues that greatly impede weight loss efforts. The reduced stomach capacity helps them control their portion sizes and the smaller stomach digests food more slowly keeping them feeling full longer. In addition, both programs also offer comprehensive patient support providing education in diet & nutrition, physical fitness guidance, emotional support, etc. that will help the patient make living a healthy lifestyle a life-long habit.

What Is The AspireAssist Procedure?

AspireAssist is a new weight loss device that can be added to your stomach without having to undergo a long surgery. You will be given a light anesthetic before starting the procedure. The entire procedure will take about 15 minutes to complete. You will be able to go home after spending some time in a recovery room. An appointment may be scheduled after the procedure to teach you how to properly use the non-surgical weight loss device.

How It Works

Once the AspireAssist device is non-surgically inserted into the stomach, it blocks off a small portion of your meal into a special tube. This food is then drained from the port on your belly using a special suction device. Since this part of the meal is not fully digested, your body will not absorb any of the calories. You will need to make sure to eat slow and chew your food into small pieces for everything to work correctly. This will also help trick your brain into feeling full.

Expected Results

The non-surgical weight loss device will reduce your caloric intake by approximately 30 percent. This will help you quickly lose a lot of weight. While everyone is different, most patients lose about 10 pounds during the first month. The weight will continue to fall off over time. You will be monitored by a doctor throughout the entire process to ensure you are staying healthy. They will also teach you to make healthy lifestyle choices. It should take about a year to reach your goal weight. Since the body has been trained to eat small healthy meals, you can get the AspireAssist device removed at this time.
